This programme is made by a fellow chronic fighter, it is designed:

  • to be accessed as and when you can (you don't have to complete each lesson in a week)
  • how it works for you (tablet, phone, computer)
  • so that you can get comfortable for the lessons and practices (grab a cuppa, your heat pack and sit or lie how you need)
  • to give you tools you can enact any time, any place to help you manage chronic pain, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety and overwhelm (you may not want to lie down and meditate on the bus, but you could!)

How we specifically learn and use mindfulness and meditation in the chronic life?

  • Video lessons for each part of the programme
  • We go into the (research-backed) benefits of mindfulness and meditation, specifically for these symptoms
  • Breathing 101 - how and why breathing well can help us relax - including your 12 second calming practice you can really do any time, any where (even on the bus)

  • Journaling and other calming practices - including your journal template

  • Body scan meditation and how to use it for pain relief and relaxation (includes audio)

You can access it in three ways:

  1. Work through the programme 1-1 with Melissa - research supports coaching and mindfulness as effective treatments for chronic illness. By working 1-1, we can really dig deep into the content, your goals and your practices and tailor the content to you. 45 minutes a week for eight weeks to focus only on your wellbeing.   2. Team programme – access the course content and a secret Facebook group for the team accessed as you can over the eight week programme. The Facebook group will be your oasis of calm where we will talk about our goals, what we are noticing, how we are enacting what we have been learning and more. You will receive the eight weeks included in the below option PLUS the online community, Q&A sessions, worksheets and audios of practices to take your learning out of the programme and into life for just $249 USD (189 pounds / 374 NZD approx. depending on exchange rates).
    This option really helps you to make the most of the course content and benefit from the team's expertise as well as Melissa's experience and training. While the group will work as if the programme is one week per lesson, and we request that you engage with the conversations as we go, you are welcome to to move through the content at your own pace. The group will also remain open at the close of the eight week term for you to continue to access the content. This option runs with groups of between 3-15 people so we can get the most out of it.
  3. Course content only – online content including videos, audios so that you can practice where and when you like (including after you have finished the programme) and worksheets just $125 USD (94 pound /$188 NZD approx. depending on exchange rates). This is the most accessible way to access the learning in terms of energy, time and investment.

How much have you previously spent trying to sleep better, reduce your pain, improve energy, decrease anxiety and overwhelm and experience some rest and relaxation? My Personal Benefits from Mindfulness and Meditation

For me the value of mindfulness and meditation is incalculable. I started meditating purely because I was miserable, exhausted and desperately needed some rest. My chronic pain and fatigue was flared up from pregnancy and delivery and having a tiny baby and said tiny baby didn't sleep much. I began with a 20 minute guided meditation and experienced rest for my body and mind in a way I couldn't remember ever achieving (I have had chronic pain, fatigue and insomnia since I was a teenager). I was hooked!

For the past five years I have meditated daily, researched, trained and basically become very passionate about using mindfulness and meditation for the chronics. As a side-benefit I found my anxiety levels have plummeted. I didn't even realise anxiety was a problem for me until the volume turned right down.

When does the course start and finish?
The course starts June 1 2019 and never ends! It is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish. The group component runs for eight weeks from June 1 2019 - 28th July 2019 but will remain open so you can access the content after it is finished.
How long do I have access to the course?
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.
What if I am unhappy with the course?

What is a coach? Are they a qualified health professional?
Coaching a partnership between coach and client where the coach supports, encourages and provides accountability while the client works toward their goals - in this case improving chronic pain, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety and overwhelm. Where the coach has special knowledge, as I do with the "chronics" and mindfulness through lived experience and research, they may provide more direction. But the client is ALWAYS in charge. Coaching is NOT therapy. I am not a qualified health professional. My aim is to empower you to take control of your journey. If you need help with mental health issues or counselling please contact a local agency.
Does Melissa use the "c" word?
No. I never use the word cure. There is no current replicable cure for fibromyalgia. I offer a way to help you take control and improve your quality of life despite your symptoms. They may improve, as mine have, but I still live with chronic pain, fatigue and insomnia every single day, but the level I experience them has decreased. I genuinely utilise mindfulness and meditation every day to help me cope and find joy despite difficult symptoms.
